Invited Talk by Dr. Jia-ru Li, CEO, LiLee Systems

We invited Dr. Jia-Ru Li, CEO of LiLee Systems, to talk about the latest development of wireless communication for Internet of Things (IoT). Here is the information for the talk.

  • Title: A Cloud for Machine to Machine Communications – Next Generation Wireless Fabric for Internet Of Things (IOT)
  • Date/Time: 2:20PM ~ 3:20PM, December 6, 2013.
  • Location: R103, CSIE Building, NTU

Abstract of the Talk:

In past 20 years, the networking industry has gone through the transition from the centralized core  to the proliferate edge; starting from massive fiber deployment in late 1990 to ubiquitous wireless communication using Wi-Fi and cellular in early 2010. It is clear that the mega trend will still be enabling more and more devices online for next 10 years; at least until 2025. Coincidentally in Feb 2013, Cisco announced their market studies for Internet of things (IOT). The survey shows astonishing results. By the end of 2013, the number of mobile devices will exceed the number of people on earth (7.6 billion). By 2017, there will be over 10 billion machine-to-machine (M2M) devices – exceeding the world’s population at that time. (

The presentation will focus on machine-to-machine and cloud computing ; covering various aspects of challenges including engineering, marketing, and customers. The speaker will use a vertical application for radio propagation as skeleton to demonstrate the need of cloud based solutions. Starting from a high level market requirement, a first generation product was quickly developed for a smaller vertical market. after first a couple customer engagements, the concept starts to condense into engineering requirements. After having customer feedback, the application quickly evolves to become a suite of products and solution for larger horizontal market. After years of re-design and re-engineering, the products eventually grow into a large scale cloud architecture for machine-to-machine market.

As an entrepreneur, Dr. Jia-Ru Li, CEO of Lilee Systems, will illustrate how to identify a market entry from railroad industry and create a set of solutions that is elastic enough for a generic transportation market. Using chronicle milestones, Dr. Li will explain how to design a cloud based software application to capture next 10 years of IOT business.
